April 4th: Dr. Martin Luther King x Reggie Clemons

mlktToday is not only the 44th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination but, also the 22nd anniversary of the Chain of Rocks Bridge tragedy which forever changed the lives of Robin & Julie Kerry, their families, and the lives of Marlin Gray, Tony Richardson, Daniel Winfrey, Reggie Clemons… and their respective families as well.

As suggested below, Tef Poe and the Footklan movement are recommitting to the pursuit of justice. If you intend to come out to Tef’s BET Hall Of Fame Induction Party tomorrow at The Gramophone, we will have our clipboard handy for you to collect signatures on Reggie Clemon’s behalf. Please visit JusticeForReggie.com If you need a little background or refresher on the circumstances surround Reggie’s case so you can make an informed decision plus, you can always sign the petition online there as well.

[Today] is the 44th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s assassination. It is also the 22nd anniversary of the Chain of Rocks Bridge tragedy. [...] We ask that you remember the lives of the young people and their families who were impacted that day. Robin and Julie Kerry lost their lives and will never have the future they dreamed of and that their parents hoped for. As for the defendants in the case: Marlin Gray has been executed, Tony Richardson is destined to spend the rest of his life behind bars; Daniel Winfrey spent 15 years in prison; and Reginald Clemons continues to be relentless in his pursuit of justice.
Let us recommit ourselves to providing young people with all the opportunities to achieve greatness and to rehabilitate a broken criminal justice system that often fails both victims and defendants. Remember Dr. King’s words, “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” A civilized society has the responsibility of putting its hand on that arc and collectively bending it if we want to see experience a just and peaceful world.
